If none of the responses to a question are applicable you can
deselect your response by first selecting one of the responses, to highlight that question.
Secondly press the space
bar. In the image to the right here you can see that the second
option is highlighted. This is signified by the dot,
which shows an option has been selected and the dashed
square, showing that it was the last item selected. Please be aware that certain questions cannot be skipped.
Using a drop down list

Many of the lists of responses available to you
in our studies are displayed as drop down lists. Drop down lists
are used to make long lists easier for you. You can quickly move
to the relevant responses within the lists by typing the first
letter of your response. On a list of colours for example you
could hit the letter “Y” to move to yellow.
Using a multiple option list
You can move down a "multiple selection list" by clicking on the scrollbar on the right hand side of the box. By holding the control key down and clicking on different options you can select more than one option.
What do the red asterisks mean?
Some questions are particularly important and
require an answered. Other questions need to be answered in a certain manner, for example the day of the month has to be less than the number thirty one.
Keyboard shortcuts
You can move between most questions, or navigation buttons
("Next" & "Previous") by pressing the Tab key (The "Tab" key
displays two arrows pointing in opposite directions,
located at the top left of your keyboard).
You can select the “Next” page button by pressing the
"Enter" key.
Going back to your previous response
We would suggest that you only go back to amend previous
questions if it is absolutely necessary. If you do go back
please use the "Previous" button on the screen and NOT the "Back
Finding useful information about recording
your purchase
Each type of product, whose purchase we record has an accompanying information page(s) to aid you in recording your purchases. The information page particularly tells you what types of products to record, what types of products not to include and useful hints for completing the questions.
Finding useful information during the questionnaire
During the questionnaires you can click on the “Useful information” button to launch a pop up page featuring useful information, which may be of assistance in completing the questionnaire. Some key questions have buttons allowing you to launch a specific information page.
Ending a survey
You can end a survey by answering all of the questions and clicking on the “Close questionnaire button”
Stopping a survey or taking a break
You can take a break, whilst completing a
survey. If you close your browser window or go to another web

button for the relevant type of product purchase and clicking on
the “ACTIVE” link.
Telling us about another purchase of the same type of product
Please remember that we always talk about individual purchases. Once you have finished telling us about a purchase you can click on the “Next purchase” button at the end of the survey. This will allow you to begin telling us about the other purchases
you have made of the same type. This will not allow you to record a different type of product.
Telling us about another type of purchase
You can begin telling us about a different type of product by clicking the “CLOSE QUESTIONNAIRE” button and selecting the next type of product that you would like to tell us about.
